Training Workshop in Practical Innovative Blogging and Online Group Collaboration for Development (E-Learning Africa2013 Pre-conference training session on 29th May 2013)

Looking for, Identifying, Linking with and coordinating collaborations easily and cheaply with potential donors and groups worldwide has always been a great challenge to majority of rural community Development Organizations in Uganda and Africa in general. On the other hand, the utilization of modern communication tools that are mostly hosted on the internet has always been hindered in rural communities by lack of: connectivity and electricity, access to affordable ICT equipment and technologies, among others.
Passing on the web2.0 practical skills by CTA and partners has once more restored hope to majority of hopeless Rural Organizations’ managers who for the first time can be able to coordinate most of their respective organizations’ activities online through blogging and group innovative online collaboration
with the utilization of group wares. The workshop will explore, share live experiences and provide practical hands-on training in innovative utilization of blogs and online group collaborative tools for fostering local organizations’ community development programs.

About this training session

Social media applications make it easy to publish and setup a website with text, video, audio, photo and advanced navigation features. By attending this session, one will not only be introduced to practical and innovative ways of sharing and publishing information online but also depart ignited with a desire to reorganize their respective content to assume an online presence and visibility. Concentration for the day will be on blogs and online group collaboration for development.

Blogging is a great way to share information on Internet. It is evolving and gives opportunity to even the common man grow their boundaries and write with freedom. One‘s scope is widened when one includes online group collaboration. Here, focus will be on development and use of wikis. These are collaborative applications that enable a group of people at different locations  develop, capture and discuss knowledge, share files and manage projects within a secure and reliable environment online.

Prerequisite Knowledge:
Knowledge on how to use computers
Interest in communicating using the internet

Trained persons in ability to use blogs and engage in group online collaborative communication

Note: Participants are required to bring their Wi-Fi enabled laptops. Participants without laptops will not be able to participate in workshop activities.
